Buzzing on Tuesdays with Computer Classes

Tuesday mornings are abuzz in the computer room at the Sorrento Community Centre with our volunteer Terry Phippen.

In the first two sessions, this year we spoke about tips and tricks to get the most out of your IPads.

This weeks session on "Mailchimp" was enjoyed by the centre volunteers, who send out our newsletters to over 800 members registered on the SCC database. Gail, the editor of the Savvy quarterly newsletter, attended as well. There are 150 people on that mailing list. We will repeat this in term 2. So if you belong to a small organisation, this is very worthwhile in attending.

"MailChimp" is the world’s largest marketing automation platform. It’s like a second brain that helps millions of customers—from small e-commerce shops to big online retailers—find their audience, engage their customers, and build their brand.

On Tuesday 27th February, Leigh will cover Facebook security settings for all users. Terry will look at annoying online scams and how to deal with them. We will look at email etiquette and suggestions for email management.

In the following weeks, we will then cover other topics, each Tuesday from 9.30am to 12 noon, such as:-

  • Google Apps. Google Tracking and how to reduce those advertising emails;

  • Photos, creating a collage, how to organise and get good quality photos into your own Photobook;

  • General support: It's where the group work together to learn. An open session to discuss issues you would like to raise, what do you need help with, etc.: and

  • Music on your device, internet radio and much more

Sessions cost $10 and a $10 annul registration fee applies

We welcome your ideas for our sessions in Term 2
